VCN – In the first three months of the year, the export turnover of wood and wood products saw remarkable growth to jump nearly $1.5 billion compared to the same period in 2020.

Statistics showed that the first 15 days of April, the export turnover of wood and wood products reached $651 million, of which, wood products reached $490 million.
From the beginning of the year to April 15, the export turnover of wood and wood products reached $4,437 billion, of which wood products reached $3,433 billion.
Compared to the same period in 2020, wood and wood products are one of the key export commodity groups with the highest growth rate of up to 51%, equivalent to an additional turnover of nearly $1.5 billion.
The US, China, Japan and South Korea are the largest export markets for wood and wood products.
In particular, the US is the largest export market. According to General Department of Vietnam Customs, by the end of the first quarter, the largest economy in the world reached a turnover of $2.297 billion, an increase of over 47% over the same period of 2020 and accounting for nearly 61% of the total export turnover of wood and wood products of the whole country at the same time.
Other key markets also saw an impressive increase such as: China reached $358.8 million, increasing by 8.2%; Japan reached $355.7 million, rising by 9.8%; South Korea reached $209.5 million, increasing by 9%.
With over $3.2 billion, the four markets mentioned above accounted for 85% of the total export turnover of wood and wood products of Vietnam (updated by markets at the end of Quarter 1).
