VCN – HCM City Customs Department has conducted pre-scanning for nearly 4,000 cargo containers in the first three months of 2021.

In order to encourage and facilitate import-export businesses in 2021, Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department applies risk control measures to identify key objects, products, and level of risk based on analysing the frequency, signs of risks and violations in order to have appropriate control measures for each mode of tricks on the basis of enhancing the exchange of professional information between the units, thereby positively contributing to the prevention of trade fraud in the area.

From the beginning of 2021 to March 15, Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department proposed to coordinate for conducting scanning for a total of 5,983 containers before clearance. In particular, the number of containers conducting pre-scanning is 3,829 containers.

Through scanning results, the Customs authority has discovered 118 containers with suspicious signs (a rate of 3.08%). The number of containers has not been selected for pre-scanning first because the container has been lifted off the yard, the cargo is bulky, the cargo is overloaded, and specific goods such as explosive goods.

Besides that, the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department implemented channel classification to make customs inspection decisions for 504,520 import and export declarations, of which, the green channel is 291,792 declarations (57.84%); yellow is 185,430 declarations (36.75%); and the red channel is 27,298 declarations (5.41%). The results of detecting violations is over 540 cases, and records of administrative violations on customs is 426 cases.
